JONESBORO, Ill (WSIL)--The wife of a veteran has some closure.
Representative Mike Bost was able to go through records and track down medals belonging to her husband.
Teri Goldsberry said her late husband David didn't talk about his time in the Army or the Marines often, but she wanted to find the medals he earned--in order to find a way to honor him.
Goldsberry reached out to Bost to help find the records and medals at the encouragement of a friend.
Bost presented Goldsberry with her husband's medals this afternoon, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Parachutist Badge.
Goldsberry is happy to get the medals back.
"I know that he did do his duty, and I was very proud of him for that. He's a decorated veteran. But I was very happy, very happy to get the medals because then I'll be able to make a very nice shadow box for him, in his honor," said Goldsberry.
Mike Bost said that if any other veterans are having a hard time finding records--reach out to his office so they can help find them.
