MURPHYSBORO (WSIL) � Murphysboro Football is gearing up for week one; the Red Devils face off against Herrin. It’s a young squad, roster loaded with sophomores who will need to make plays. Murphysboro Head Football Coach Gary Carter is confident with his 10 seniors. Carter is ready to get week one out of the way.
Murphysboro football lost some key starters, but this year’s seniors are ready to lead and are putting in the work this summer.
Dezmond Clark was all-state in football and track and Logan Sullivan was all-state in track for Murphysboro.
It was a disappointing end to a historic season for the Murphsyboro Red Devils.Â
On Thursday afternoon, the Murphysboro football team began their journey to Dekalb for the 4A state championship and the local community gave them quite a sendoff.
