below flood stage near Plumfield Sunday, and near Murphysboro
Tuesday.

CARTERVILLE, IL (WSIL) - March Madness is officially here! 

The big dance won't feature any area programs, but here are a few matchups to watch as the Tournament starts.

In the South region, Kentucky (#3) takes on Oakland (#14.) The Wildcats and Golden Grizzles battle on Thursday at 6:10 p.m. in Pittsburgh, PA.

Staying in the South region, Western Kentucky (#15) will look for a massive upset over Marquette (#2). This game is on Friday at 1:00 p.m.

Over in the East region, Illinois (#3) takes on Morehead State (#14). This matchup is on Thursday afternoon.

As a reminder, former Saluki star Marcus Domask now plays for the Illini. It's the Big Ten champions against the OVC champions.

In the Midwest Region, Purdue (#1) will face the Montana State/Grambling State game-winner on Friday night.

SIU has ties in this game as well. Former Saluki coach Matt Painter now leads fellow former Saluki Lance Jones alongside the Boilermakers.
