CCHS to host first "IllinoisGetDown" Carbondale Holiday Showcase

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Carbondale Community High School hosted the Carbondale Holiday Basketball Tournament for over 55 years, but when the pandemic hit, the tournament, along with many other things was cancelled.

Holiday hoops are returning to CCHS next weekend under a new name: The "IllinoisGetDown" Carbondale Holiday Showcase. 

Five local high school boys basketball teams are participating in the showcase.

13 teams from Illinois, Missouri and Arkansas are participating in the showcase that features 10 games over two days. 

Five local high school boys basketball teams will be playing this year, Carbondale, Herrin, Marion, Mt. Vernon and Pinckneyville.  

The event is being spearheaded by Carbondale High School, IHSA and University of Florida Hall of Famer, Dan Cross, who is excited to bring the historical holiday basketball event back to Carbondale.

Three games will be played on Friday, Dec. 15, with the other seven being played all-day on Saturday, Dec. 16. You can find more information at .
