CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Goreville is headed to the 1A final four in Peoria after knocking off Moweaqua (Central A & M) 71-64.

Four Blackcats scored in double figures. Nick Compton and Briley Dunn both scored 12 points and Landon Albright and Cameron Hines each scored 10 points. Dunn was 5-for-5 from the field. Compton also was 6 of 7 from the foul line and hit some big free throws down the stretch.

"It feels great, been a dream ever since I was a little kid practicing with the fifth and sixth grade guys when my dad coached," Compton said. "Going to state means everything to me and I'm excited we are going this year."

"It's since my sophomore year, I've been thinking about going back up there and it's finally a dream come true you know," Albright said.

"It's huge," Goreville Basketball Coach Todd Tripp said. "Those seniors, some of them were sophomores when we went. They got a taste of it. They've had a taste of it in baseball. It tastes really good and they want to do it again."

"It was a really long last three minutes," Goreville senior Trent Glidewell said. "That's a really good team and you can't ever count them out even if you're ahead toward the end so we knew we had to grind it out, make our free throws, take care of the ball and we did."
