DU QUOIN (WSIL) -- Du Quoin has been working on perfecting what they do best and that's run the football.
David Lee will be under center, he returns from the spring but has only started five games in his career.
Theres leadership returning at the receiver position.
Overall it's an inexperienced group but according to Head Coach Derek Beard guys are competing for jobs. They stress competition every day.
Defensively they want to get after it. The effort is there, they want to hit you and even the quarterbacks welcome it. This team embraces physicality.
"Coming into practices I will tell them hit everybody because I told our quarterback in games, we are going to get hit," Du Quoin quarterback David Lee said.
"Our linemen, always, always, have the intensity to be out here. We don't have one lineman that hates and it and have a couple of wide receivers that are loving it. We don't throw the ball much but love being out here blocking for everybody."
"We've got a lot of seniors, our skilled guys, got a lot of juniors involved too. Our junior class, there's not a lot of guys in that class but it's a strong class," Du Quoin Head Football Coach Derek Beard. "We have a lot of athletes in that class that are back out this year so we've got a pretty good mix of kids that we are happy with and guys competing for spots right now so we'll see how that works out here in the next week."
Du Quoin opens week one Friday August 27th at Chester
