Nick Compton led Goreville to a Goreville invitational tournament title and was named MVP. His efforts got him nominated for the WSIL Banterra player of the week award for the week of December 9th, 2019.Â
Blackcat nation did their part as Compton beat Massac County’s Julian Russell with 55 percent of the votes.
Compton was excited to be named player of the week but quickly gave credit to his teammates.
"Being 7-0 feels great. Team chemistry is insanely good and love playing with the team and definitely couldn’t be 7-0 without team chemistry like we do," Compton said.Â
"It’s nice to see a player to be recognized for his accomplishment and he had a great week of basketball and for what’s best about him is he’s about team first and for us to win the championship that is what it’s all about and this is added on to it so," Goreville head basketball coach Todd Tripp said.
