Saluki football lands former Murray State QB DJ Williams on National Signing Day

The Harvey, IL native selects SIU over East Tennessee State and Tennessee State. He will now instantly compete with Marion's own Hunter Simmons for the starting Quarterback spot.Â
Williams is a dual-threat Quarterback who ended this season with 11 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He was the OVC 20-21 Freshman of the Year.
Coach Hill says the quarterback spot, as well as the rest of the roster, is wide open.
"You've got to create competition, at every position, not just quarterback so there are no depth charts for us," Hill said. "When we get in the spring, it's about re-earning it. It's about guys that had phenomenal years for us that are coming back understand the standard that they have to uphold or other guys will take their spot."
Williams is one of 22 new Salukis.
