Saluki football to hold Friday Night Lights practice at Du Quoin High School

CARBONDALE, IL (WSIL) - Spring football is here!

SIU finished its 8th practice this morning at Saluki Stadium. The Dawgs now head to Du Quoin to practice under the Friday night lights.

The 6:00 p.m. practice is free and open to the public.

Fans who attend the practice can buy half-price season tickets if they have never been a season ticket holder.

Southern has been working hard during early morning practices. There are tons of new faces on this year's roster.

The event is a homecoming for Saluki Head Coach Nick Hill, who was a former all-state player for the Indians. He is fired up to return to Du Quoin with his team for the first time since 2022.

"It's a great opportunity for them to meet the players afterward and put a face with a name," Hill said. "There is no better thing as a kid to be able to come and meet a player or get a free poster or autograph and some pictures. It should be a fun night."聽

The team will host several giveaways at the event as well.

The Saluki spring game is in Carbondale on Saturday, April 20th.
