...Gusty Thunderstorms with Small Hail and Cold Air Funnel Clouds
through Early Tonight...

Gusty thunderstorms capable of producing cold air funnel clouds
and small hail are forecast through early tonight. These cold air
funnels are developing underneath thunderstorms that are moving
across the area. Underneath these showers...spinning columns of
air that look like tornadoes may continue to develop. These
funnels usually are very brief and rarely touch the ground. If
these funnels do touch down...they most likely will not cause
damage to life or property.

Cold air funnels are due to very cool air aloft...warm moist air
near the ground...and are usually in association with a strong
area of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Due to
little or no wind shear...they are usually weak and very brief.

#8 Salukis fall to #1 Drake in MVC Tournament

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (WSIL) -- #8 SIU fell to #1 Drake 53-70 on Friday afternoon as part of the quarterfinals in the MVC Tournament and bringing the season to an end for the Salukis.

The Salukis coming off a last second win over Indiana State on Thursday, faced off against Drake on Friday to keep their season alive, however, it was cut short.

The Salukis kept even with the Bulldogs through the midway point of the first half before Drake started inching away. 

Drake ended up with a lead of 10 at the half, leading 35-25.

SIU opened the half trying to claw their way back in it, getting as close as 6 points with 16 minutes left in the game. However, Drake was too much as it clamped down on defense, only allowing the Salukis 18 points for the remaining 16 minutes and taking home the victory 70-53.

The Salukis shot 42.2% for the game, pulled down 32 rebounds and turned over the ball 15 times. Drake shot 43.9% for the game, grabbed 34 rebounds and only had 6 turnovers.

Drake plays against the winner of #4 Belmont/#5 Illinois State.
