CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois men's basketball player Anthony D'Avanzo is a 6'8" graduate transfer from Lewis University.

After playing four years at the Division II level, D'Avanzo is making the jump to the D-1 level. The Harwood Heights, Illinois native finished his Lewis career with 927 points and average 15.8 points per game as a senior along with 8.4 rebounds a contest. D'Avanzo can shoot too. He shot Shot 52 percent from the field over 99 games at Lewis and 40 percent from 3-point range as a senior.

SIU Head Men's Basketball Coach Bryan Mullins believes D'Avanzo will fit in nicely with the Salukis, and his basketball career is still on the rise.

"Anthony is young for his age," Mullins said. "He really should be a senior right now in college. He had a great year last year and played for a great coach, in Coach Trost at Lewis. He's the kid that's gotten better every single year and I think that's where right now throughout the summer and fall right now, he's just going to continue to grow and grow. He has the athletic tools to be a great player at this level and now it's just getting the reps in and the timing in. He's definitely motivated to prove to people wrong and to prove to people he can be a high level player."
