WSIL(Carterville, IL)--This morning we are already seeing freezing rain and sleet enter the region. For this wintery precipitation, there is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 10:00 PM this evening. Although some sleet and snow may mix in, the main concern is the possibility of light freezing rain. In areas included in the advisory, we are聽tracking the possibility of freezing rain totals of up to 0.1", with locally higher totals possible.聽
Temperatures this morning will remain below freezing, which will help any freezing rain stick to roads and surfaces. However, by the time we make it to late morning and into the early afternoon hours, we are tracking temperatures that will start to tick above the freezing mark, so the majority of winter weather impacts will likely be in the morning hours.聽
For this afternoon and evening temperatures will be in the mid 30s for highs, which is not warm, but it should be enough to melt some icing from this morning.聽
We are also tracking widespread rainfall that will linger through the afternoon hours. Temperatures, however, will be above freezing, so we are not expecting freezing rain or any wintery precipitation this afternoon and evening.聽
We are also tracking widespread for tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday. However, temperatures will be in the upper 40s to mid 50s so we are only expecting rain.聽
