CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- Wednesday signals the unfortunate end to our string of beautiful weather. You've still got a chance to get to the yard work ahead of the rain through the early afternoon. Ahead of the rain, temperatures will warm into the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Rain will spread in from the west later this afternoon. For the most part, the widespread heavier showers will hold off until the evening. Once the rain begins, it sets the stage for a very wet pattern through the first part of the weekend.
Two rounds of heavier rain are expected. One tonight and then another Friday evening through Saturday morning. Overall, rainfall amounts may top two inches in some areas. Due to a dry April thus far, the risk of flooding is not high.
Meteorologist Nick Hausen is tracking the latest on the rain and when it will finally move out on News 3 This Morning. We've got you covered.
