(WSIL) -- A few storms are possible this weekend, but rain chances increase next week as Ida's remnants move closer.

Much attention is on the gulf coast as forecasts indicate Hurricane Ida may make landfall as a Category 3 or 4 storm on Sunday. While our weather will be much quieter this weekend, we are expecting the chance for a few pop up thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday. By comparison, Saturday's storm chances are more isolated in nature while activity on Sunday will likely be more scattered. Severe weather is not expected, but localized heavy rain and lightning will be a concern.

It's beginning to look like the core of Ida or its remnants will pass by to our southeast. With that said, we will see rain chances grow through Tuesday as Ida moves close. I'll be tracking today's storms, and Ida as we discuss the potential impacts it may have locally, this morning on News 3.
