CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- For those hoping for a little more sun, today will be the best chance this weekend.

Clouds will likely occupy the morning sky for most in southern Illinois, but in southeast Missouri, folks should see sunshine at sunrise. That clearing will eventually spread eastward by the afternoon. Those in southern Illinois may begin to see sunshine as soon as late morning.

These low level clouds (or lack there of) will likely have an impact on our temperatures area wide. Places like southeast Missouri and western Kentucky should see more sunshine and will likely reach low to mid 40s for highs. ¾ÅÓÎÌåÓý Illinois may be a bit cooler, with highs in the upper 30s. Those numbers may climb higher, given more sunshine.

A chance for a brief snow flurry is possible in the northwestern most portions of southern Illinois through mid morning.

A chance for showers returns as early as late morning on Sunday. Rain chances will only build throughout the day into late Sunday evening and Early Monday morning.

Meteorologist Jacie Brianne will be on air tonight, with another look at your forecast.
