(WSIL)---Some effects of COVID are permanent, like lung scarring, but other symptoms can take months to go away.
Some of the symptoms of long haulers include fatigue, cough, and shortness of breath. These affects can last 4 or more weeks, according to the CDC.
According to Dr. Brian Miller, anyone who has had COVID symptoms can experience Long Haulers Syndrome.
"If this person had been more ill, has been in the hospital in the ER on a ventilator, or prolonged confinement to isolation, they tend to have more of the prevalence of the syndrome," said Dr. Miller.
Dr. Miller also said long haulers can occur in 5 to 10% of people who have had COVID infections. Dr. Miller also stressed, in order to avoid long haulers syndrome, you need to prevent getting COVID-19.
The best way to do that, is to get the COVID vaccine.
