Illinois reports highest one-day COVID-19 case total

SPRINGFIELD (WSIL) -- State health officials have announced the single highest one-day total for new COVID-19 cases.

On Thursday, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 4,015 new cases.

IDPH had announced 5,368 new cases of COVID-19 on Sept. 4, but that number included cases not reported several days prior due to a slowdown in data processing.

Thursday was also the first day health officials included both molecular and antigen tests in their statewide totals. IDPH said antigen tests were previously not included because of the limited number of tests and limited information about their accuracy.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 331,620 cases, including 9,127 deaths, in Illinois.

ALEXANDER COUNTY

Female: One in her 40s
Male: One in his 40s

Alexander County has had 100 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including one death. Southern Seven Health Department says 37 cases are currently active.

FRANKLIN COUNTY

Females: One child under 10, three teenagers, two in their 20s, four in their 30s, seven in their 40s, four in their 50s, seven in their 60s, eight in their 70s, three in their 80s and one in their 90s.
Males: One infant, one toddler, one child under 10, one in their 20s, three in their 30s, one in their 40s, two in their 50s, two in their 60s, five in their 70s, two in their 80s and one in their 90s.

GALLATIN COUNTY

Female: one in her 30s
Male: one in his 50s

HAMILTON COUNTY

Female: one in her teens
Male: one in his 60s

JACKSON COUNTY

Female: One under 10, two teens, three in their 20s, one in her 30s, one in her 50s and one in her 70s
Male: Two under 10, two teens, three in their 20s, one in his 30s, one in his 40s, two in their 50s and one in his 60s

In addition to 21 new cases of COVID-19, Jackson County Health Department also announced one additional death.

The health department says a woman in her 70s previously confirmed to have COVID-19 passed away.

Jackson County has had 1,396 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 25 related deaths. Health officials say 87 active cases are currently being managed.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

Female: Six in their 20s, three in their 30s, two in their 40s, five in their 50s and one in her 60s
Male: One in his 20s, one in his 30s, two in their 60s and one in his 70s
Long term care: 3 residents

Jefferson County Health Department reported 25 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday. To date, there have been 857 confirmed cases, including 40 deaths, in the county. Health officials say 106 active cases are currently in isolation.

JOHNSON COUNTY

Female: Two in their 20s, one in her 30s, one in her 50s and one in her 60s
Male: One in his 20s, two in their 30s, two in their 50s, one in his 60s and one in his 80s

Johnson County has had 317 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Southern Seven Health Department says 132 cases are currently active.

MASSAC COUNTY

Female: One in her 70s
Male: One in his 30s

There have been 133 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including two deaths, in Massac County. Southern Seven Health Department says 51 cases are currently active.

PERRY COUNTY

Female: One in her 30s, two in their 40s and one in her 60s
Male: One in his 40s, one in his 50s and one in his 80s

There have been 392 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 16 deaths, in Perry County. The health department says 24 cases are currently active.

PULASKI COUNTY

Male: One in his 30s and one in his 40s

Pulaski County has had 213 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including one death. Southern Seven Health Department says 40 cases are currently active.

SALINE COUNTY

Females: one in her teens, two in their 30s

Males: one in his 40s and one in his 70s

UNION COUNTY

Female: Two in 10s, three in their 30s and one in her 40s
Male: Two in their 20s, four in their 30s, two in their 50s and one in his 60s

There have been 681 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 21 deaths, in Union County. Southern Seven Health Department says 222 cases are currently active.

WHITE COUNTY

Females: one under 5, one in her teens, one in her 30s, two in their 40s, one in her 50s, two in their 60s, two in their 80s, one in her 90s

Males: one under 10, two in their 60s, one in his 70s, one in his 80s

WILLIAMSON COUNTY

Males: One child under 10, two in their 20s, two in their 30s, three in their 50’s one in their 60s, one in their 70s
