(WSIL) -- A is set to go into effect in Illinois Friday. The order reopens animal grooming services, golf courses and some state parks. It also includes a new face-covering requirement.
According to the governor's order, individuals will be required to wear a face-covering or a mask when in a public place where they can’t maintain a six-foot social distance. Face-coverings will be required in public indoor spaces, such as stores.
The new requirement applies to individuals over the age of two "who are able to medically tolerate a face-covering or a mask."
But where can you find masks? In Carbondale on Monday, CVS Pharmacy, Walmart, and Walgreens were all of stock, and other stores don't sell them.
One place that did have them? Hunan Chinese Restaurant.
"It's a convenient thing," said owner David Quan.
Quan says the goal isn't to make money, instead to relieve some stress.
"Mainly this is a gesture to the customers. They've been supporting us, and we have somewhat of a small facility that we can do it. Meaning that my wife she can sew, and we have fabric," Quan explained.
In a previous interview with News 3, Senator Dale Fowler said since masks aren't available to everyone, you can't be penalized for it. But business owners do have the right to refuse service to anyone not wearing a mask.
Quan says he can't make that decision yet. He says the majority of his customers have face masks.
"We can take precautions for ourselves, but the rest is beyond my control."
