ALTO PASS (WSIL) -- It's opening weekend at Rendleman Orchards, a tradition in Alto Pass for 18 years.
The farm's market is still open to visitors this year, but there are some health and safety changes due to COVID-19
Jennifer Sirles, Vice President, says there's a sign outside letting visitors know that a face mask is required, as well as, hand washing stations before entering the front and side doors.
"We want to take all the safety precautions that we can," Sirles explains. "To keep our customers and our staff as healthy as possible."
Other precautions for guests include hand sanitizer and social distancing reminders inside.
Sirles says the orchard is making it mandatory for employees to go through a screening process when they arrive for their shift and must wear a mask throughout the day.
"They enter the door with a face mask to the back rooms. They set down their belongings, " she explains. "They are to wash their hands with soap and water thoroughly."
Employees will also get their temperature checked each day at the start of their shift.
Opening weekend kicks off the farm market being open seven days a week.
Visitors can try a peach slushie and take home fresh peaches or an array of peach items such as jam and jelly.
However, other new things around the market include a remodeled inside, an updated payment system and vegetables from other local producers.
"We do hope that the community will have a little patience with us; show us some grace," Sirles adds. "We promise that we will be up to speed as soon as we can."
Opening weekend takes place on Saturday, June 27th from 9 a.m - 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 28th starting at noon until 5 p.m.
The market then stays open 7 days a week through Halloween.
