SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (WSIL) -- A 19-year-old faces a charge in connection to a child hit by a vehicle at a school bus stop.

Online court records show Brice Beussink, 19 of Oran, faces a charge of Fail To Stop For School Bus Receiving/Discharging School Children-Injury To Child on January 24, in Scott County.

According to a probable cause statement, the incident happened on January 13, 2025, at 3:33 p.m. along U.S. Highway 61, south of Morley.

Police responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian incident.

Missouri State Highway Patrol earlier reported a 2004 Toyota Tundra, driven by a 19-year-old from Oran, was traveling south on Highway 61 in the same area where the school bus was and attempted to stop, however, the vehicle then began sliding and struck the 6-year-old in the roadway.

The 6-year-old child reportedly just stepped off the school bus before the incident happened.

The child was then flown to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis with serious injuries.
