23-Year-Old Faces Charges in Connection to Weekend Shooting Investigation

PADUCAH, Ky. -- A 23-year-old is facing charges in relation to a shooting over the weekend in Paducah.

Paducah Police Department said officers responded at 2:45 a.m. on August 11, to a large gathering in the 900-block of Boyd Street for a report of a gunshot.

While officers were there moving through the crowd, police said shots were heard in the area.

Officers ran towards where they said they heard the shots fired at. They later reported one person was taken to a local hospital with gunshot wounds.

More detectives responded to the scene. Police say the suspected shooter was Tayjaun Kelly, 23 of Paducah.

Paducah police accuse Kelly of being near the large crowd when he began shooting and hitting one person.

On Monday evening, Kelly was then found at a home in the 800-block of River Oaks Boulevard and arrested.

I also want to commend our detectives for quickly identifying and arresting the shooter. Our officer鈥檚 commitment to the safety of our community is deeply appreciated.鈥�

Kelly was taken to the McCracken County Jail where he faces first degree assault and wanton endangerment charges. Kelly has a bond of $50,000 cash only.
