.Levels will continue to slowly fall on the Big Muddy River, but
remain above flood stage through next week.

For the Big Muddy River...including Plumfield, Murphysboro...
Moderate flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 9:30 AM CDT Sunday was 27.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 20.5 feet Sunday,
April 20.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
26.6 feet on 04/20/1939.

...Breezy South Winds Expected Today...

South winds will increase today becoming sustained 15 to 25 mph
this afternoon along with gusts of 30 to 40 mph. The strongest
gusts are expected to occur across southeast Missouri into
southwest Illinois.

Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. A few tree limbs
may also be blown down. High profile vehicles may encounter some
driving difficulty, especially on east-west roads.

Carbondale police find loaded gun in vehicle stop, one arrested

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A 26-year-old is behind bars facing multiple charges after a traffic stop.

It happened at 12:42 a.m. on Sunday. The Carbondale Police Department said an officer stopped a vehicle in the 500-block of New Era Road.

Police said the driver is known to have a suspended driver's license.

Police then arrested Keishawn T. Wright, 26 of Carbondale.

While police were investigating, they also found a loaded gun from in the vehicle.

Wright faces charges of Driving While License Suspended, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Wright was taken to the Jackson County Jail.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
