Law enforcement conducts search warrants in Mt. Vernon in connection to drug investigations

MT. VERNON, Ill. (WSIL) -- Law enforcement in Mt. Vernon recently served three search warrants on Thursday involving drug investigations.

The Mount Vernon Police Department and Mayor John Lewis stated the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff's Office High Risk Team served the three warrants to homes in the 1100-block of S. 12th Street, the 1000-block of Gilbert Street and the 400-block of Short Street on March 13.

The search warrants were related to reported drug investigations with Mount Vernon criminal detectives and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office joint narcotics division.

Authorities reported hard drugs were found at these three properties, along with stolen property at one of the locations.
