CARMI (WSIL) -- A death investigation is underway in Carmi.
Around 11:10 a.m. Friday, police responded to 1604 Hillcrest Avenue, in Carmi, after a report that a man and woman had been shot.
When police arrived a 71-year-old woman was found dead in a vehicle in the driveway and a 72-year-old man was found dead inside the home.
Both of the deceased appeared to have gun shot wounds.
Police say a family member found them during a welfare check, after the couple didn't answer their phone.
An autopsy is scheduled for this weekend.
Police say this appears to be an isolated incident and the community is not in danger.
Carmi Police are still investigating.
