JOHNSON COUNTY, ILLINOIS (WSIL) -- A Goreville man is behind bars and being charged with first degree murder.
On August 28th at 11:45 p.m. Illinois State Police investigators were requested by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department to assist deputies with a shooting. It took place in the 6000 block of Dutchman Lake Road.
Authorities say a local man suffered gun shot wounds and is dead. He's being identified as 51-year-old Joseph E. Geyman of Tunnel Hill, Illinois.
The suspect, Larry D. Cavitt, of Goreville, Illinois was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder. Currently, the 68 year old is in custody at Massac County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.Â
