MARION, Ill. -- Bevely's defense on Friday morning argued the court didn’t give enough consideration to the lack of criminal history for Bevely prior to the case.
The judge said he took everything into account and that the sentence was appropriate.
Bevely was sentenced last month for the murder of 11-year-old Jade Beasley. She died two years ago this week.
Bevely was in court for Friday’s hearing. She has 30 days to appeal.
