MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. (WSIL) -- Law enforcement was called out on March 14, at 6 a.m. to help a man with a vehicle he was driving as it was stuck along Moors Camp Highway in Marshall County.

When the caller reported it, they stated the man was in the roadway and covered in mud.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office said they later found out the vehicle was stolen out of Lexington, Kentucky, and the man was someone different than he claimed to be.

After the sheriff's office said they verified the vehicle was stolen and figured out who the man was, they then went over to a home on Daniels Drive and arrested 30-year-old Alek Nelson who was sitting on the front porch when they arrived.

The sheriff's office accused Nelson of resisting arrest and running from authorities at the time they went over to arrest him.

Nelson was cited with evading police on foot, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property for $10,000 or more and disorderly conduct.

The Benton Police Department and Calvert City Police Department assisted the Marshall County Sheriff's Office in the investigation.
