JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (WSIL) -- A man was taken to jail after deputies responded to a report of a fight in Johnston City.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said their deputies responded to a report of a fight happening at Bud's Auction Barn on Christmas Tree Road in Johnston City on March 8, at 5:47 p.m. It was also reported one person had a man pinned on the ground.
Once deputies arrived at the scene, the sheriff's office said there were about 30 people standing near the front entrance of the property and there were several people holding down a man at where an auction was taking place.
The man pinned to the ground was accused of causing injuries to another male and tried to flee, the people on scene said to police.
Adam Jennings was identified as the suspect.聽The sheriff's office said he was intoxicated, had a strong odor of alcohol and had slurred speech.
Law enforcement stated the victim was a 79-year-old man who had swelling and redness around his eye, his left leg was injured and he had a cut on his left arm. The victim was then taken to a hospital for treatment.
The sheriff's office cited Adam R. Jennings with an Aggravated Battery charge.
Jennings was then taken to the Williamson County Jail.
