Suspect in custody after police respond to burglary call a second time within a week at same business

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- A suspect is in custody after police responded to a burglary report on Saturday at a business where property was reported damaged and stolen days beforehand as well.

Police in Carbondale said they responded to a burglary in progress on Saturday night after 11 p.m. to a business in the 2200-block of East Main Street.

Police said a suspect was reported to be on the roof. This is the same place where police reported property damage and stolen items occurred during last week as well.

After a brief foot chase on the recent Saturday incident, Carbondale police said they then arrested a suspect.

The suspect was identified as Daniel Patterson, 36 of Carbondale. Patterson was cited with charges of Commercial Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property, and Resisting a Police Officer.

Patterson was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
