Two 18-year-olds arrested in Carbondale, one of which was reportedly armed with a gun

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Two 18-year-olds are going to jail after officers respond to a report of two suspicious individuals outside of a home, one of which reportedly had a gun in Carbondale.

Carbondale police said it happened at 3:33 p.m. on Friday. Officers went out to the 700-block of West College Street for a report of two males outside of a home. One of those males were reported to have a gun.

Officers started investigating and arrested Vernell J. Lollar, 18 of Carbondale. 

Police said Lollar allegedly entered a home unlawfully and threatened a resident with a gun.

Lollar was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and home invasion.

Police also arrested the other male. He is Tyrez J.T. Gails, 18 of Carbondale. They arrested him for a failure to appear warrant out of Jackson County for a prior arrest of resisting a peace officer.

Police said both Lollar and Gails will be taken to the Jackson County Jail.

Nobody was injured in the incident and this is still under investigation.
