(WSIL) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says facility closures at Rend Lake will be extended into May due to COVID-19 and the current stay-at-home order effective in Illinois.
The new extension, announced Saturday, will last until May 17th and will include the Rend Lake Project Office, Visitor Center, all U.S. Army Corps campgrounds, and many day-use areas at Rend Lake.
The new announcement also states that all shelter and group camp reservations in Rend Lake's Corps of Engineers managed-areas through May 17th have been cancelled; individuals with affected reservations will be contacted by email, and a full refund will automatically be processed.
If needed safety measures extend past May 17th, additional reservations may also be cancelled - with any additional customers receiving a full refund.
All special events and public meetings are placed on hold until further notice.
