ALEXANDER COUNTY (WSIL) Gary Robertson from Alexander County moved into his house about three years ago. Gary is trying to make his basement look how it once did.

He explains. "If we had lost power it would have went up to the windows or it would have went to to the ground levels."

You see Gary like many residents in Alexander, Jackson and Union County have been victims of flooding.  He was frustrated when FEMA denied the state appeal for individual aid for flood victims

Gray says, "It’s pretty sad. That we can’t you know get any help or get out of here to make things better for this community."

East Cape Mayor Joe  Aden says he has his hands tied behind his back at this point.

He says, "I just don’t understand how FEMA can deny not only us but the other counties."

Mayor Aden explains he doesn’t have much to say except that FEMA denial is unacceptable.

"I don’t understand we send money to foreign countries to help them and we cant do that to our united states citizens," says Mayor Aden.

Gary says even though he spent hundreds of dollars on repairs but he’s thankful to be one of the few people who wasn’t affected as much. Gary fears for the people who have lost just about everything in this flood.

He explains, "It’s getting more and more disastrous it seems like well right now the river is up again that’s the second time in the fiscal year."

Mayor Aden tells News 3, his top priority now is to get President Trump involved.  Mayor Aden explains he’s working on writing the president a letter in hopes of receiving proper help.
