- At 8:30 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 24.8 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late Sunday evening and continue falling to 17.5 feet

Start your engines! I-57 Dragstrip is open for the summer

(WSIL) -- After being closed for the duration of 2020, the I-57 Dragstrip in Benton is back in action and under new ownership.

The drag strip held test and tune races Friday, June 18. They opened Saturday for their first official race day of the summer.

The drag strip is open to the public, so you can go watch or even race.

The track's owners tell News 3 they are excited to get the track up and running again.

"Anybody that's got a hot rod that thinks they can come out, there's ET, Footbrake, Pro, Super Pro for the big boys, Jr. dragsters for the little kids. No matter how old or how young you are, if you like cars, there's something for you here," said owners Donnie and Nicki Ellis.
