JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (WSIL) -- A homeowner and her second floor tenant are homeless Friday night after a late afternoon fire in Johnston City.
The fire started just after three o'clock on the 800 Block of Water Avenue.
Johnston City Assistant Fire Chief Greg Jennings said both floors of the home suffered severe damage and neither occupant will be able to return. Jennings said he hasn't seen a fire like this one in Johnston City in a while.
"We've been blessed, to not have fires and stuff like this; but other towns have. But, like I say we've been very blessed to not to have to deal with this type of situation," said Jennings.
No one was injured. Jennings said its still too early to determine the cause of the fire or the extent of damage.
