BENTON, Ill. (WSIL) -- County officials are informing motorists to avoid an area of I-57 north of Benton as emergency crews respond to a brush fire.
The Franklin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) stated the traffic alert is for the I-57 Southbound lanes at the 75 mile marker.
Officials said there is a report of a brush fire and traffic is down to one lane.
The Franklin County EMA informs the public to avoid the area and take alternative routes.
