
MAKANDA, Ill., (WSIL) -- It's getting cold outside! But officials at Giant City State Park aren't scared of a little cold weather. In fact, they recently announced different activities happening at the park during the month of December.
On Saturday, December 7th, grab your cold weather gear for an easy stroll to spot winter birds. Starting at 9 a.m., Vicki Lang-Mendenhall, park volunteer and 九游体育 Illinois Audubon Society member, will guide spotters along the easy third-of-a-mile Post Oak Trail. You'll want to bring along your binoculars for that one.
A little later in the day, you can make your own winter wreath. On the afternoon of December 7th, you can join the University of Illinois Extension in customizing your own winter wreath. You can sign up for one of two sessions. All supplies will be provided.
If you're curious about how the experts experience nature, you can hear for yourself on Sunday. On December 8th, from 2-3 p.m., you can join Botanist Chris Benda as he talks through some of his most amazing moments in nature this year.
