...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily heat index values of 100 to 107.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health impacts
will build with each successive day in the heat and humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Home catches fire in Johnston City

JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (WSIL) -- Fire crews responded to a fire in Johnston City on the night of February 5.

Williamson County Sheriff Jeff Diederich tells News 3, crews responded to a garage on fire at 1401 Benton Street in Johnston City.

Crews first responded to the fire at 9:31 p.m.

Diederich said the garage of a home was fully engulfed at one point. Just before 10:30 p.m., Diederich said he got word the garage has collapsed.

Multiple fire crews responded to the scene, including the Johnston City Fire Department, Williamson County Fire Department, Herrin Fire Department and United Ambulance Service. A Williamson County deputy also responded to help with traffic in the area.

A video from Dave Davis showed large flames coming from the structure with first responders on scene.

The State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate.
