MARION, Ill. -- Drivers will be seeing a new look soon on Route 13 in Williamson County.
Crews with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) began construction between Sinclair Avenue and Route 37 in Marion on August 5. Currently, construction crews are milling and paving to prepare to lay down new asphalt.
IDOT officials say there is about three weeks left of construction for this section.
Another road project in Carbondale is going on as well.
Drivers and bike riders will soon be seeing a new path in their area.
On the eastbound lanes of Route 13, starting at the intersection on Old Route 13 and new Route 13, there will be a new shared use path.
This path will end at Wood Road in Murphysboro and will connect to the current one in Carbondale.
This project started in July and will continue through 2025.
