GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. -- One person was air-lifted to a hospital after the vehicle he was driving crashed and flipped over in Graves County on Saturday.

The Graves County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened on February 3, at around 3 a.m. along KY 339, just east of Wingo.

Deputies with the sheriff's office responded to the scene and found a 24-year-old laying on the ground with a vehicle flipped over on its roof.

The deputies and first responders aided the person on the ground until EMS arrived. After an ambulance arrived, the 24-year-old was then taken to the Wingo Baseball Fields where he was then air-lifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

The sheriff's office said the driver was traveling west on KY 339 in a 2008 Nissan Altima and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle ran off the road, hit an embankment, then hit two mailboxes and overturned, authorities said after investigating the incident.

The 24-year-old was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Assisting Graves County Sheriff's Deputies was the Mayfield/Graves County EMS and the Wingo Fire Department.
