PARMA, Mo. -- A 2.4 earthquake hit the southeast Missouri area on Wednesday morning.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) stated the quake hit in New Madrid County, a couple of miles west of Parma.
The quake shook the area at around 7:32 a.m. with a depth of 5.1 kilometers. This is roughly 3.1 miles deep.
The last earthquake in the area was in Dyer County, Tennessee, on July 18 where a 2.1 earthquake hit the area, according to the USGS.
