.Levels will continue to fall on the Big Muddy River for the next
week, dropping near to below flood stage by April 21.

For the Big Muddy River...including Plumfield, Murphysboro...
Moderate flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

- At 11:00 AM CDT Monday the stage was 25.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late Sunday evening and continue falling to 19.6 feet Monday,
April 21.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

Authorities investigate deadly crash in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (WSIL) -- Authorities are on scene of a deadly accident on I-55 in Cape Girardeau Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened around the time a storm system made it's way through the area.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop E are assisting the Cape Girardeau Police Department working the crash at the 96 mile marker in the Southbound lanes.

MSHP said the roadway is expected to be blocked for several hours.

As of 3:50 p.m., officers were diverting traffic around the area.

MSHP also reports an additional wreck, unrelated to the deadly crash, happened at the 93 mile marker on I-55.
