SCOTT CITY, Mo. (WSIL) -- Firefighters responded to a home on fire during the early morning hours on Tuesday in Scott City.
The Scott City Fire Chief Shawn Jackson provided some details about the working fire call. He said this happened on October 1, at 3:05 a.m. when fire crews were called to a home in the 500-block of State Street.
This also brought in mutual aid fire departments from Chaffee, Benton, Gordonville, Cape Girardeau and the N.B.C. Fire Protection District.
A single-story home had fire had heavy fire coming out when fire crews arrived at the scene. Jackson said there were also power lines on the ground in the front yard of the home which hindered some fire operations.
Fire crews attacked the flames from the outside of the home, as the structure was deemed to be too unstable.
M & M Real Estate, along with JAC3 Contracting, were also called to the scene and helped with their excavation equipment as well.
Jackson said the home was a total loss and an investigation found the fire started in the kitchen area.
All people inside the home were able to get out without any injuries, Jackson added. He said those people are being helped by the American Red Cross.
Other agencies on standby assisting firefighters were the North Scott County Ambulance District, Scott City Police Department and Scott City Public Works.
