CLARKTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- One person is dead and another injured after a crash in southeast Missouri on Monday evening.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) said the crash happened at 5:19 p.m. on October 21, along Highway 25, roughly two miles north of Clarkton.

MSHP stated Seth Calder, 21 of Clarkton, was driving a 1999 Buick Regal going south when the vehicle crossed the center line and hit a 2014 Nissan Sentra going north. State police said Calder was not wearing a safety device.

The driver of the Nissan Sentra was reported as a 32-year-old female from Kennett.

Calder was taken by ambulance to the Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Arkansas. Calder was later pronounced dead at the hospital, MSHP stated.

The 32-year-old female was air-lifted to Region One in Memphis with serious injuries.

MSHP reports this as the 54th death related to a crash in southeast Missouri for 2024.
