(WSIL) -- The 2020 National FFA Convention is quickly approaching and a local chapter has a few reasons to be excited.

The Marion FFA Chapter is getting some big recognition as a 3 Star National Chapter. FFA Advisor Heather Pulley says the award recognizes outstanding FFA chapters from throughout the nation, that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization.

In addition, former Marion FFA member Brenda Findley is receiving her American FFA Degree. This is the highest degree which an FFA member can receive and is only obtained by 1% of FFA members in the entire nation.

Brenda had a total of 6 Supervised Agricultural Experience projects and logged over 1400 hours of work. She is now at John A. Logan College and plans to transfer to SIU and complete her degree in Agricultural Education.

Congratulations to all the members of the Marion FFA Chapter from News 3!
