Big Muddy River near Plumfield and Murphysboro.

.Levels will continue to fall on the Big Muddy River, dropping
below flood stage near Plumfield Sunday, and near Murphysboro
Tuesday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and will continue.

* WHERE...Big Muddy River near Plumfield.

* WHEN...Until early Sunday afternoon.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 10:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 23.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
Sunday morning and continue falling to 15.1 feet Thursday,
April 24.
- Flood stage is 20.0 feet.

Cape Central High School responds to graduation shooting

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Cape Central High School sent an email to the school's families and staff addressing the shooting inside the Show-Me Center during Sunday's graduation ceremony. 

The statement began with a brief recap of the situation before going on to give updates on the status of attendees. 

"No students or staff members were injured," the statement read. "Thanks to the assistance of staff members at the Show-Me Center, we were able to get everyone out of the building safely."

The school acknowledged the hard work of law officials in securing the area after the shots. 

"We are thankful for the quick response of our school resource officers who were already at the Show-Me Center and for Cape Police Department officers who responded to the call." 

CCHS confirms it plans to reschedule the ceremony soon. 

"We want to plan an event that celebrates our graduates the way they deserve, but our priority at this time is working with police to aid in their investigation of this situation." 

The school later stated there will be no classes or activities for students on Monday.

In an update on Monday afternoon, the school district cancelled classes again for students on Tuesday, May 21.
