MAYFIELD, Ky. -- Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear visited Mayfield on Friday to dedicate homes to victims of the December 2021 tornadoes.

Beshear visited two of eight homes gifted Friday to help welcome families into their new homes.

"One of my favorite moments during a home dedication is watching the kids run around, pick out their new room and decide where their favorite toys will go," Beshear wrote on . "It's an important reminder of why we won't stop until each and every home, and life, is rebuilt."

Christian Public Services, Mayfield First United Methodist Church, The Hope Initiative, and Team Western Kentucky Tornado Trust Fund all played a part in making these homes a reality for the victims.

Mayfield has been slowly rebuilding its city since a series of tornadoes swept through the area in December 2021. Over 14 total cyclones swept through the region and destroyed the town. Friday's home dedications are the latest in a series of efforts from Kentucky officials to help the people of Mayfield.
