CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- As all sectors of the economy enter Phase 5, with new health and hygiene practices permanently in place, another popular Carbondale attraction is set to entertain.
The Varsity Center reopens this weekend with a full schedule.
"Along with everyone else we have trudged through the pandemic and all year we had virtual events that we broadcasted on our Facebook and YouTube Channels," said Billy Robbins, the Varsity Center Board President.
The Center for the Arts is reopening on the building's birthday weekend and Southern Illinois Gay Pride weekend.
"We're going to have our Varsity birthday concert. This is our 81st year. Varsity opened in June 27th of 1940. So, we try and commemorate our building's birthday," said Robbins.
The Varsity Center for the Arts promises four, fun, high energy shows beginning Friday night on their birthday weekend.
"We will opening with a return of drag shows through the Varsity. That'll be on Friday night, doors open at 7 for the show to start at 7:30. It's an all ages show," said Robbins.
