CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- "We're trying to make sure we have a lot of energy a lot of relentless effort on every single play and trying to pick our teammates up so a lot of encouragement has been the focus and our guys respond so far to that but it's day two," Carterville Head Football Coach Brett Diel said. "Anybody can do it for two days. we need to make sure we can do it for two and a half months."
Football is back in the fall. Monday we stopped by Marion, Tuesday we visited with Carterville High School.
You just heard Coach Diel point out energy is key.
The spring was hard on a lot of teams. But Carterville twice due to the pandemic had to find last minute opponents.
They still found a way to go 4-1.
They graduated some key skill players but they return experience up front.
The Lions build from within their strength in the trenches.
Just two days in but Coach likes what he sees and they are building off that success in the spring.
