CARTERVILLE Ill. (WSIL) -- The clouds yesterday will give way to full sunshine today. Unfortunately, it wont help keep us any warmer. High temperatures today not expected to make it out of the 30s! With a slight breeze it will make temperatures feel below freezing much of the day. The 30s for high temperatures look to stay with us for a while as old man winter pays us a visit.Â

Saturday will even bring the chance at some snow showers across the area. Best chance to see these snow showers will be around southern Illinois. They should begin in the morning to early afternoon hours from west to east. Temperatures will be hovering around freezing and models are honing in on a band that could develop with slightly heavier rates. This would allow a quick 1-2 inches to potentially fall in this band. Best chance for this right now is across the Mt. Vernon area but stay up to date with us to see if this changes location over the next 24 hours. Accumulations look much lighter everywhere else where I just expect it to be a novelty event for the eyes only!
