CARTERVILLE, Ill. -- Here is an updated forecast for the area.
As of late Tuesday morning, we are still seeing moderate to heavy rain in most of 九游体育 Illinois.

We have seen an extension of the Flash Flood Warnings in place for Jefferson & Perry counties in southern Illinois until 1 p.m. and for Washington county, the Flash Flood warning has been extended until 12:45 p.m.
We expect to see rain continue over the next few hours as more storms form back towards the north and west; currently, these storms are impacting the St. Louis area and places west.

As the afternoon wears on, we will see all of these showers and storms track from northwest to southeast. We could see a break in the shower activity perhaps during the evening. But overnight, showers and storms will pick back up. We will likely see storms last through early tomorrow morning, but storms should migrate further and further south through the day.
Flash Flooding will continue to be a major concern for the remainder of the day and overnight; Please Remain weather aware.

Additionally, there is a low end risk that a few storms could be on the strong to severe side with the primary hazards being damaging wind and small hail.

More than likely, we will see the Heat Advisory get dropped for most of the area, if not the entire area, thanks to an earlier onset of rainfall.
